LHTAC Study Origin
During the 2008 Idaho Legislative Session, local agency representatives requested additional revenue to adequately maintain and improve local roads. Legislative representatives requested additional analysis to support this request. The purpose of this report is to answer the questions generated during the 2008 session so that additional revenue can be applied towards local highway needs.
In response LHTAC staff developed a scope of work to support the need for additional revenue based upon specifically identified needs. This document details the local highway needs by district for the entire state of Idaho.
The purpose of this study:
To accurately and clearly define the financial needs of local highway jurisdictions.
The focus of the study:
To support the preservation of existing local highway assets including paved roads, gravel roads and bridges.
The primary emphasis of this study:
To determine the cost to improve 80% of paved roads to good or better condition.
