The Highway Districts of Cottonwood, Ferdinand, Fenn, Greencreek, Keuterville and the Cities of Cottonwood and Ferdinand were struggling to complete chip seal projects that were cost effective and completed during the proper season. They were paying $23,000 to $25,000 per mile and many of the projects were happening late in the season.
The seven jurisdictions worked together to coordinate and share equipment and manpower across thirteen entities. They were able to reduce the cost to approximately $15,000 to $18,000 per mile, saving $5,000 to $7,000 per mile. To recognize their performance, we presented the West Camas Transportation Council with an award and will be delivering a T2 course to them, with lunch provided by LHTAC.
LHTAC will showcase our outstanding innovation submissions in our Tech News during the coming months.
