Great news from the Public Transportation Office!
We are happy to announce and release a grant funding opportunity through the One-Time Application. Public Transportation providers throughout Idaho can submit a one-time application beginning August 22nd, 2016 for a share of more than $1.2 million in funding available statewide, within the 5310 (Elderly & Disabled), 5339 (Bus & Bus Facilities), and the Vehicle Investment Program (VIP).
Eligible activities for the One-Time Application will be capital, planning, and marketing projects.
This funding opportunity will serve the Public Transportation Providers and related transportation businesses throughout Idaho and the people of Idaho. Public Transportation Providers throughout the state will have the chance to apply for much needed funding to rehabilitate and replace aging bus fleets, purchase equipment needed to maintain their operations, fund marketing efforts to increase ridership and awareness of their services, and fund planning efforts to ensure they are continuing to work to meet the needs of the people of Idaho. The general public will benefit by accessing the new and improved capital assets that result in safer transportation operations and greater efficiency in fuel and carry load. Marketing and planning also provide direct access to these services by increasing awareness and education on how to use public transportation and where services should be deployed.
This effort has been made possible through cost savings on projects and the innovative approaches taken by the Public Transportation Office.
