Idaho Wins at National Build a Better Mousetrap Competition

National LTAP Recognized Clearwater County, Idaho.

Clearwater County Wins at National Competition!
Clearwater County’s – Recycle Building was submitted to LHTAC for our 2017 Innovation Idea Award competition. The idea was then submitted by the LHTAC T2 Center to the FHWA Center for Local Aid Support for the Build a Better Mousetrap National Competition where it took FIRST PLACE for the Facilities Improvement Category.

The winners were chosen by FHWA Center for Local Aid Support staff.

Clearwater County: Recycle Building

Problem: They needed a new recycle building as economical as possible, and durable enough to be “fork lift proof”
Solution: Use old w-beam guardrail (replaced through a LHSIP project) as siding inside and out.
Expenses: $3,383 Labor, $2,336 Equipment, $760 Materials – Total $6,479.
Savings: $10,000.
