GRS-IBS Workshop Kuna Road Demonstration Flyer (PDF)
The Local Highway Technical Assistance Council received funding to provide a demonstration workshop on Geosynthetic Reinforced Soil–Integrated Bridge System (GRS–IBS) bridge construction in southern Idaho. The all-day workshop includes a morning of class instruction using FHWA experts and an afternoon onsite observation of the construction.
GRS-IBS is an innovation to help reduce bridge construction time and cost. GRS-IBS projects can be built in weeks instead of months, due to the ease of construction and the use of readily available materials and equipment. Reduced construction schedule translates into less exposure around work zones improving safety. Idaho has adopted GRS-IBS as a focus for the state.
Cost of attending this workshop will be funded through the grant. The focus audience for this workshop is roadway supervisors, foreman and employees. At this time, we are limiting attendees to two (2) per agency. If you have more employees that wish to attend, they can be added to a waitlist. Email Dawn Christensen at dchristensen@lhtac.org to request additional spots. Consultants and contractors may be able to attend if spots are not first filled by locals. They can email and be placed on a waitlist. Note: The grant will not cover the cost of consultants and contractors to attend.
