Construction Engineer

The Construction Engineer assists the Resident Engineer in managing federal-aid construction projects and contracts. The position assists Local Highway Jurisdictions (LHJs) in selecting and managing project consultants. This position reports to the Construction Engineering Manager but has some discretion to carry out the functions of the job.

1st Annual LHTAC Local Roads Photo Contest

Theme: A Trip on Local Roads

The photo must have a high resolution (for quality printing purposes) and landscape in orientation. The photo must include a local road with an active or completed LHTAC project. Please include the location and roadway name when submitting.

First Place: The winner of this year’s photo contest will win a $50 Amazon gift card, be published as the next cover photo on the LHTAC website and used in the FY18 Annual Report. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place photos will be printed, framed and displayed in the LHTAC office with credit to the photographers.

Email your submissions to dchristensen@lhtac.org by May 1st. LHTAC staff will vote on their favorite. All photos submitted will be used in future LHTAC marketing materials, including the 2019 LHTAC promotional calendar.

New Application Rankings

The Local Highway Technical Assistance Council met on Friday, March 9th and approved the following rankings:

Federal-aid

Federal-aid applications were rated and ranked by LHTAC Council and Staff. The projects will be entered into the new Draft ITIP this Spring depending on the available funds. We will start with #1 and move down the list as the estimated funds are distributed. The Draft ITIP will be available for public comment in July. The ITIP will not be final until the IT Board approves it in September.

FEMA Region X Training Opportunity

Flood Training for Locals

Course: L0273 Managing Floodplain Development through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)

Target Audience:

Local officials responsible for administering local floodplain management ordinances, including floodplain management administration, building inspectors, code enforcement/zoning officers, planners, city/county managers, attorneys, engineers, and public work officials. Federal/state/regional floodplain managers are also encouraged to attend. The course is designed for those officials with less than three years of floodplain management experience. (more…)
