Post Falls Highway District announces the ribbon cutting ceremony for the recently completed Prairie Avenue and Chase Road Roundabout. The event will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Prairie Avenue and Chase Road.
The Prairie Avenue – Chase Road Roundabout is an intersection improvement project primarily funded through a Local Strategic Initiatives (LSI) grant administered by the Local Highway Technical Assistance Council (LHTAC).
The Prairie Avenue-Chase Roundabout qualified for $1 Million in funding due to the safety improvements provided by the roundabout along with the positive impacts the project has to commerce and mobility. The amount of crashes and crash severity should decline while still providing free flowing mobility to all traffic, including to the Kootenai County Solid Waste Transfer Station located west of this project. With the future growth projections for the City of Post Falls being 24.7 % of the county by 2020, an free flowing intersection improvement now is forward thinking.

The City of Sandpoint announces the ribbon cutting for the recently completed N. Ella Avenue. The event will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. one block north of Spruce.
The N. Ella project was primarily funded through a $546,000 Local Strategic Initiative (LSI) grant administered by the Local Highway Technical Assistance Council (LHTAC). The City of Sandpoint was successful in applying for funds due to the positive benefit to Litehouse Foods, Inc., the improved mobility to all users, and the other positive impacts to the surrounding neighborhoods and nearby schools.
N. Ella Avenue is an important link in the “Explore Sandpoint!” dedicated bicycle route system. This project removed and replaced deteriorated asphalt on Ella, from Pine Street to a half block north of Chestnut Street, installed missing curb, updated ADA Ramps, are in the process of adding speed tables, and renovated two small sections of storm water system.
