Work is scheduled to begin today for the Middle Fork Emergency Relief (ER) Project

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Work is scheduled to begin today (Thursday, 9/25/2014) for the Middle Fork Emergency Relief (ER) Project

Boise – Work is scheduled to begin this week to reopen the Middle Fork Boise River Road near Atlanta, Idaho. This road is the only access route for winter travel to the small mountain community of Atlanta.

On September 9th U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx announced the immediate availability of $500,000 in Emergency Relief funds from the U.S. DOT’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to help cover the costs of repairs.

The Local Highway Technical Assistance Council (LHTAC), in cooperation with the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD), is providing project oversight for the Middle Fork ER project. This includes coordination with Forest Service and Atlanta Highway District.

A road closure from Loftus Hot Springs and Campground to Forest Road 376 is expected to last for 60 days for all traffic, until construction is complete.  Traffic using other portions of the Middle Fork Road should be aware of construction vehicles.

Total project cost for Middle Fork Road ER is expected at $800,000.
