Asset Management

LHTAC strongly encourages all local road jurisdictions to use an asset management system to aid in tracking and planning road assets and their  maintenance.  Each jurisdiction can decide what system best fits their needs and budget.  To help provide a low cost option, LHTAC and iWorq negotiated a solution for Idaho’s local road jurisdictions. ITD families featured in work zone safety PSA

ITD and the Office of Highway Safety created a public service announcement to raise awareness of safety in roadway construction zones. ITD employees and their children are featured in the PSA, urging motorists to leave early, slow down and pay attention. Work Zone Awareness Week was April 11-15, but vigilance must extend beyond the week. Watch PSA

Large Loads on Local Roads

Beginning July 1st, routes in Idaho that allow 129,000 pound loads will be expanded to include the interstate system.  With this expansion, more local roads will be accessible to these large load trucks. With that, producers and carriers are wishing to take advantage of the opportunity to reduce shipping costs by increasing the weight of each load, thereby reducing the number of needed trips.  (more…)

Vehicle Heatstroke Prevention

Did know that heatstroke is the leading cause of vehicular non-crash-related deaths for children under 14?  In fact, an average of 37 children die from vehicle heatstroke each year.

While it seems like an impossible mistake to make, every parent or caregiver can potentially become distracted, and distractions often fuel this devastating situation. No one is immune. Yet, this tragedy is 100% preventable.

We each have a role to play to help keep our kids safe. Help us share live-saving tips and resources with as many people as we can.

28th Annual Summer Tribal Planning Institute

The Northwest TTAP and the EWU Tribal Planning Program invite you to join our 28th annual summer Tribal Planning Institute at the Riverpoint Campus near downtown Spokane, WA. These workshops will help provide basic knowledge in areas such as transportation, comprehensive planning, Geographical Information Systems, and traffic safety. Join us for an exceptional three weeks of learning opportunities presented by our accomplished speakers.

Road Life Cycle (PDF) June 13-17, 2016

  • Informative workshop includes the process from beginning to end of setting a tribal road.

Tribal Planning (PDF) July 11-15, 2016

  • Dynamic workshop will overview the tribal planning history and legal foundations for comprehensive planning and land use.

GIS for Tribal Planning, Transportation and Traffic Safety (PDF) August 8-12, 2016

  • Learn basic knowledge of GIS concepts, applications, data driven planning, road maps, and analysis.

Cost: $200 for each workshop or $500 for all three
