Vehicle Heatstroke Prevention

Did know that heatstroke is the leading cause of vehicular non-crash-related deaths for children under 14?  In fact, an average of 37 children die from vehicle heatstroke each year.

While it seems like an impossible mistake to make, every parent or caregiver can potentially become distracted, and distractions often fuel this devastating situation. No one is immune. Yet, this tragedy is 100% preventable.

We each have a role to play to help keep our kids safe. Help us share live-saving tips and resources with as many people as we can.

28th Annual Summer Tribal Planning Institute

The Northwest TTAP and the EWU Tribal Planning Program invite you to join our 28th annual summer Tribal Planning Institute at the Riverpoint Campus near downtown Spokane, WA. These workshops will help provide basic knowledge in areas such as transportation, comprehensive planning, Geographical Information Systems, and traffic safety. Join us for an exceptional three weeks of learning opportunities presented by our accomplished speakers.

Road Life Cycle (PDF) June 13-17, 2016

  • Informative workshop includes the process from beginning to end of setting a tribal road.

Tribal Planning (PDF) July 11-15, 2016

  • Dynamic workshop will overview the tribal planning history and legal foundations for comprehensive planning and land use.

GIS for Tribal Planning, Transportation and Traffic Safety (PDF) August 8-12, 2016

  • Learn basic knowledge of GIS concepts, applications, data driven planning, road maps, and analysis.

Cost: $200 for each workshop or $500 for all three

HB312 Distributions – Quarter 3

The third distribution of HB312 funds was released in April.

ITD Payments to Local Governments – Highway Distribution Account (HDA) FY16 QTR3

Please remember that reporting will need to be done on the additional HB312 revenue that your jurisdictions are receiving. Reporting for the HB312 revenue will be collected yearly on the Road & Street Finance Report.

New Deputy Administrator

The Local Highway Technical Assistance Council has named a new Deputy Administrator.

We are please to announce that Laila Kral, our T2 and Safety Manager has been named the new Deputy Administrator for LHTAC. Laila has been with LHTAC for the last four years and has been managing the T2 Center, the Local Rural Highway Investment Program (LRHIP) and the Local Highway Safety Improvement Program (LHSIP). March 2016 Progress Status Reports

The Local Highway Technical Assistance Council provides an important linkage between Local Highway Jurisdictions and the Idaho Transportation Department in the utilization of Federal-aid highway funds available to the LHJs in Idaho.  These quarterly progress reports include the status listing of current and upcoming LHTAC projects for each district.
