LRSP Part 2: A Roadmap to Getting Home Safely

The National Center for Rural Road Safety (Rural Safety Center) and the NLTAPA Safety Working Group are co-hosting a FREE, 1.5-hour online webinar.

This webinar will feature information on how to begin a Local Road Safety Plan and provide case studies from the county, state and FHWA Division Office perspective. 

January 23, 202 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Summarize variations of development of Local Road Safety Plans
  • Contrast agency approaches to supporting development of LRSPs

Innovative use of Jaws-of-Life means repairs take minutes instead of hours

Arapahoe County, CO, worked with the fire department to see if jaws-of-life would be useful for recovering a crushed culvert end.  The road crews now have their own jaws-of-life and are saving costs. 

“Designed to pry or cut the steel from mangled automobiles, we’re probably the only government organization to use the Jaws-of-Life to straighten the crushed ends of steel culverts.” Arapahoe County Road and Bridge partnered with Byers Fire Department and together they were able to turn an ingenious idea into a time- and cost-saving reality.
