Hearings scheduled this week on 129,000-pound truck route applications for Twin Falls, Jerome and Gooding counties

SHOSHONE – In response to a permit request from Idaho Milk Transport, the Idaho Transportation Department is evaluating the feasibility of allowing loads of up to 129,000 lbs. on sections of US-93, Idaho Highway 46 and Idaho Highway 79.

Public hearings will be held March 4 and March 5 in Wendell and Twin Falls to provide citizens an opportunity to review displays of the existing and proposed 129k routes. Hearings will be held in open-house format with staff from ITD on hand to answer questions regarding the applications or 129k process. (more…)

Public Comment Period – LHTAC Applications

Public Comments on LHTAC’s Funding Applications will be taken April 1-30, 2020.

The Local Highway Technical Assistance Council (LHTAC) will be accepting comments and suggestions for improvements on our current funding applications. Areas open for comment include: the application process, format of applications, questions/scoring etc.

Comments must be submitted to lhtac@lhtac.org by April 30, 2020.
Please use LHTAC APPLICATION COMMENTS in the subject field of the email.

Prior to new applications coming out in fall of 2020, the LHTAC Council will review and take into consideration the comments received. Changes to applications will be approved at the September Council meeting and will appear in the final release of applications in fall of 2020.

3rd Annual Photo Contest

First Place: The winner of this year’s photo contest will win a $50 Amazon gift card, be published as the next cover photo on the LHTAC website and used in the FY20 Annual Report. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place photos will be printed, framed and displayed in the LHTAC office with credit to the photographers. Winners will also receive a framed copy of their photo. (more…)

Canal work under way as St. Anthony replaces bridge

ST. ANTHONY — Work to replace a worn-out bridge in downtown St. Anthony has led to a revamp of a section of the Egin Canal.

The bridge crosses the canal at South 2nd West and West 1st South, just west of the South Fremont Fire Station.

The City of St. Anthony has been working toward replacing the bridge since a state bridge inspector said it was in poor shape about six years ago. It’s a small bridge, but it serves as a vital link across town for emergency vehicles trying to save time by avoiding Bridge Street and a stoplight there.
