September 2018 Quarterly Progress Report

The Local Highway Technical Assistance Council (LHTAC) provides an important linkage between Local Highway Jurisdictions (LHJs) and the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) in the utilization of Federal-aid highway funds available to the LHJs in Idaho. These quarterly progress reports include the status listing of current and upcoming LHTAC projects for each district.

The Political Signs Minefield

Political signs placed in public rights-of-way (ROW) are a minefield for road agencies. That minefield is even more treacherous after the 2015 case of Reed v. Town of Gilbert, Arizona (Reed).   The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has recently threatened to sue at least one Idaho road agency for removal of political signs based on the Reed case. 2019 IAC Scholarship Application Now Open!

The 2019 IAC Scholarship Application is Now Available

The Idaho Association of Counties (IAC) Scholarship Fund was created in 1996 to assist children of county employees and children and grandchildren of county elected officials with the increasing cost of college tuition. (more…)

Officials celebrate Ella Ave. project

SANDPOINT — The Ella Avenue rehabilitation project recently finished on time and well under budget, prompting city officials to continue improvements on the stretch of road between Pine and Chestnut streets.

“We are really proud of our team,” said City Administrator Jennifer Stapleton. “This was a project that we needed to pull off in a tight timeline, which we knew we could do, but some of our new management approaches have led to us really being able to get things done in a tight timeline and really get costs under control.
