The Local Highway Technical Assistance Council (LHTAC) provides an important linkage between Local Highway Jurisdictions (LHJs) and the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) in the utilization of Federal-aid highway funds available to the LHJs in Idaho. These quarterly progress reports include the status listing of current and upcoming LHTAC projects for each district.
FHWA has published a Bridge Bundling Guidebook, a how-to manual that leads users through 10 steps for developing an effective bundling program.
Although the guide focuses on bridges, the information can be broadly applied to develop bundles that maximize agency resources on all types of projects, such as safety, pavements, and traffic operations. Topics covered
include project delivery methods, funding and financing, coalition building, and risk assessment. The guide includes readily useable tools to assist in delivering bundled projects, including selection criteria, sample contract documents, and case studies.

The Public Transportation Summit, hosted by the Idaho Transportation Department’s Public Transportation (ITD-PT) Office, is in its third year and features new trainings from subject-matter experts in a variety of fields.
Specifically geared toward agencies that provide public transportation or have a vested interested in transit, the event will be held July 30 through August 1 in Boise.
“The annual summit will assist existing or new recipients of public transportation funding in obtaining training and information to be successful. Our goal is to continually support and promote coordination between agencies, local stakeholders, and organizations with a focus on sustaining and improving public-transportation services,” explained Shauna Miller, Grants Officer with ITD’s Public Transportation Office.

Bonner County Road and Bridge: Locally Funded Improvements
Problem Statement: As with all road jurisdictions in Idaho, there is a shortage of funding to improve roads and always a high volume of demands for improvements from vocal residents who believe that their road deserves special consideration and priority for improvements. These vocal residents sometimes band together into groups and petition their elected officials for consideration. In order to establish a methodology for dealing with these issues, Bonner County has begun a Locally Funded Improvement program (LFI) and adopted those guidelines and procedures as part of the Bonner County Roads Standards Manual (BCRSM).
