The Leading Idaho Local Bridge (LILB) Program funds the repair or replacement of bridges 20′ in length or more on the local road network. Bridges must be in poor condition or be posted for load weight limits.

Funded Project Status 

 

Round 5 Funded Projects Announced – 2/22/24

The LHTAC Council announced 26 new projects to receive funding this is the fifth round of selection from the LILB Program, totaling a $41.2 million investment.

Round 4 Funded Projects Announced – 6/06/23

The LHTAC Council announced several projects to receive new funding, totaling a $50 million investment.

  • 7 bridges will be repaired with estimated costs exceeding $100,000, which requires Council approval.
  • 3 bridges are being moved from the repair category to the replace category. This is because repairs would not be cost-beneficial and the local highway jurisdiction owning the bridge preferred going with a replacement.
  • 10 bridges are being moved from testing & analysis to replacement.
  • 18 bridges are funded for replacement. These are generally selected by priority of rankings approved in 2022.

Round 3 Funded Projects Announced – 4/14/23

The LHTAC Council announced 25 new projects to receive funding and seven more projects receiving funding for replacement; this is the third round of selection from the LILB Program.

LILB Cultural Resource Impact Stakeholder Meetings

LHTAC is creating a Programmatic Agreement outlining a process for mitigating potential cultural resource impacts the LILB Program may generate. One specific area of action is relocating truss bridges. You can learn more about that here.

Fiscal Year 2022 Project Rankings

The LHTAC Council approved the FY22 LILB Rankings on July 14, 2022. The Idaho Transportation Board passed a concurring motion on the rankings July 21, 2022.

There is no cut-line for funding in the LILB Program like other LHTAC-administered programs. In the next phase of the program, LHTAC staff will select projects to be contracted out either individually or bundled. These contracts will be presented to LHTAC Council at a future date.
