WASHINGTON – U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao today announced the recipients of $225 million in Competitive Highway Bridge Program (CHBP) grant funding, including $6.2 million for Idaho to fund bridge improvements. Awarded to 20 projects in 18 states, the grants will fund a variety of bridge improvements including replacement and rehabilitation.

$22 million available through November 12 in Rural Transit Funds

More than $22.3 million in funding is available through Nov. 12 from the Idaho Transportation Department’s Public Transportation (ITD-PT) office for rural transit service providers in Idaho.

Local government authorities, public agencies or private nonprofit organizations, and operators of public transportation that receive funding indirectly through an eligible recipient are eligible to apply. (more…)

Program Application Rankings Included in Draft ITIP

Bridge:

LHTAC was able to include the top bridge applications in the program, one Local Bridge and two Off-System Bridges, into the FY20 to FY26 Draft Idaho Transportation Investment Program (ITIP) submitted to the Idaho Transportation Board.

The FY20 to FY26 Draft Idaho Transportation Investment Program (ITIP) document will be open for public comment during July 2019. Historically, the Idaho Transportation Board approves the draft ITIP in September and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) approves it in the fall.

Rural:

LHTAC was able to include the top two rural applications in the FY20 to FY26 Draft Idaho Transportation Investment Program (ITIP) submitted to the Idaho Transportation Board.

LHTAC will use this year’s applications and rankings for inclusion into next year’s draft program in spring 2020.

New multi-use path in Spirit Lake serves biking, pedestrian interest

A new eight-foot-wide multi-use path was recently completed in the northern Idaho town of Spirit Lake, connecting Idaho Highway 41 (5th Avenue), city hall, and the fire station, and adding sidewalk to many residences in the area. The path, identified as a need by the city since 2007, used $216,456 in TAP (Transportation Alternatives Program) funding.
